TZM is used in the electrical and electronics industry as a target material for high-voltage rectifier components, semiconductor thin-film integrated circuits, cathodes, gates, and CT scanning X-ray tubes.TZM X-ray tubes are used in CT scanning systems. During scanning, the metal disk of the X-ray tube target rotates at a speed of 3,000 ~ 10,000 r/min and the surface temperature exceeds 2,000 °C. TZM alloys are suitable for X-ray tube target production because of their good resistance to high temperatures as well as good corrosion resistance.

This is mainly due to the good thermal conductivity and low coefficient of expansion of TZM alloys, as well as their high strength at high temperatures (1100-1650 °C).
