Description:
Silicon carbide has a density of 3.21g/cm-3, is insoluble in water, and is easily soluble in molten iron and molten sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide. Silicon carbide does not have a melting point and boiling point in the general sense.
It can only be regarded as a decomposition temperature, and the numerical value of the decomposition temperature is determined by the environment during measurement and the purity of the sample. Silicon carbide decomposes and sublimates at 2700℃.
